The Hakkon Empire is one of the major factions of Perisno. It occupies the savannah region of southern Perisno and is bordered by Elintor to the northwest, Drahara to the northeast, the Realm of the Falcon to the southwest, and the Kaikoth Confederation to the southeast. It is led by Emperor Sidderis.
Lore[]
The Hakkon people originated from the Continent of Athassia. In a few centuries, the Hakkonese people rose from a minor island nation to a superpower on the continent. Sailing technology was revolutionized and the Hakkonese Navy grew in great numbers. They quickly dominated surrounding minor island tribes and were poised to take the mainland.
After taking the mainland, the Hakkonese and their tribes united and became the Calintrik (Sall-an-Trick) Empire. However, one tribe known as the Tolranians, who had resided on the mainland Athassia, became increasingly concerned by the tyrannical rule opposed upon them by the empire. As oppression grew, the Tolranians had no choice but to seek a new home. They sailed east, towards the Perisno mainland.
Aaramis Talcinous, at the age of 41, became the first Emperor of the Calintrik Empire. His lineage would rule for more than three centuries.
Emperor Comrey Talcinous was on the throne in 329, but as time went by he quickly became overweight. Neglecting his position, his ministers had begun ruling the kingdom in his stead until a more suitable heir could be selected. Nobles and soldiers who no longer wished to serve Emperor Comrey Talcinous had begun their move by departing the continent with a massive fleet, which was made up of a large number of Hakkonese. They arrived in Perisno by the year 330 and by sheer force, sacked the Elintoran City Lille and the Capital, Forniron, as they sailed through the waterways leading into Perisno. Elintor, taken completely by surprise, had no answer for the naval force and was forced to retreat.
The Hakkon Empire grew in size over the years and was immensely prosperous, but frequently clashed with Tolrania and Elintor as they controlled the waterways.
Government[]
Their empire is ruled by a monarch named Emperor Sidderis. Their government is efficient, with access to several trade routes and natural resources. They’re able to field a solid military composed of a variety of troops. It’s made up of heavy cavalry, heavy infantry, spearmen and crossbowmen.

Strengths[]
- Great unit diversity, with good cavalry, infantry, and skirmishing options
- Troops are quick to train and upgrade
- Solid heavy melee cavalry noble troops
Weaknesses[]
- No particular stand-out unit specialization in the common tree
- Lancers can struggle in a protracted melee fight after the initial charge
- Susceptible to armies with strong ranged forces
Strategy[]
Hakkon has a wide variety of units in its common troop tree that are rather quick to train, but at the same time have a lower plateau than other major factions. This allows them faster recovery time and great tactical diversity, solely lacking in only mounted skirmishing options. Crossbowmen are available for punching through enemy shields and armor while infantry are armed with powerful throwing spears. Common cavalry serve as shock troops while noble cavalry serve as melee cavalry that are able to bring something else when dismounted.
Trivia[]
- The Hakkon Empire is thematically inspired by the Greek city-states and Byzantine Empire.
